The Culture Programme of the European Union renews its support for NXTSTP by attributing a second term 5 year funding to NXTSTP, The Second Generation

NXTSTP is a network European performing arts festivals that came into being in 2007 to provide an extra shot of energy to the co-production and circulation of the performing arts in Europe. Over a period of four years, NXTSTP supported 31 projects from 27 companies of individual artists from 12 European countries, representing hundreds of performance dates. In 2012, the first term of NXTSTP concludes, but another is already under construction.

NXTSTP, the Second Generation was awarded a 5 year funding (2012-2016) under the Strand 1.1 'Multi-annual cooperation projects' from the Culture Programme of the European Union.

MYSTERY MAGNET

A visual artist who has come from the world of theatre, Miet Warlop’s work involves a blend of disciplines. Creating animated sculptures, tableaux vivants and performative actions in her workshop like autonomous plastic materials, she assembles them into unusual forms that investigate the device and dramaturgy of theatre. In ACT/COLLECTION, Trailer Park, performed at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2011, she let her strange creatures cohabit in a space in which the audience could move freely. However with her new creation, Warlop focuses our attention on a panoramic space, a theatre stage on which she unleashes a fantastical procession. Headless women, giants’ trousers, a crepuscular traffic jam, a journey on the moon and a black storm that carries away everything in its path: MYSTERY MAGNET  sketches out a haunted world where humour is born from sadness, magic from the prosaic and excitement from fear. Imagination in power!
